Young visitors at Maker Store Berlin
On Tuesday, we had a group of visitors in our Maker Store in Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg: a number of young pupils and a qualified IT specialist who teaches them about technology and programming once a week. Pawel had passed our store several times already and eventually simply asked us if it was possible to take the children to our store and show and explain them our products.
We were very happy about the inquiry and agreed on meeting them this Tuesday – as this is exactly what we aim to accomplish with our Maker Store and Maker Space: to introduce technology to the ones interested in it, to inspire them, to encourage them to learn and participate.
We started the tour at 5 pm showing them the 3D printer that we put it into operation. Our first successful printing: a little robot – it’s improvable, however, we are proud of it.
The kids asked many questions about our Arduino products and already knew a lot about micro controllers and single board computers that they got to know during their meetings with Pawel.
They especially liked our robots: we showed them the Ultimate Robot that the children would have loved to “take home” in order to teach it “how to clean” the apartment. Everything is possible. For public amusement, our Music Robot played “Brother John” (which it does twice an hour).
Furthermore, the children had fun with our bricks: they built electric circuits with LEDs and resistors in series connections. I, as viewer (and photographer), had a lot of fun, too! The kids were so clever and eager to learn and they did not have any fears of contacts with technology unknown to them at all. In the end, it was a great evening from which all of us, the children, Pawel and us, could profit.
We are looking forward to seeing you again, soon!
